What is the Sunrise Powerlink?

The Sunrise Powerlink is a 120-mile electric transmission line that will deliver 1,000 megawatts of clean, reliable energy, enough to power 650,000 homes and businesses in San Diego. The energy will come from planned solar, wind and geothermal power plants in the Imperial Valley.

The Sunrise Powerlink is our clean-energy connection to the sun-drenched and geothermal-rich Imperial Valley. If we can put that heat to good use, we can shutter fossil-fueled generating facilities like the South Bay Power Plant in Chula Vista.
